A Shure replacement stylus will restore your Shure cartridge to its originally specified performance levels. We strongly advise against the use of non-Shure styli with our cartridges. Such imitations will not perform the same as the stylus being replaced, and, more importantly, could cause permanent damage to your records - severe mistracking can ruin a record in a single play.

And, of course, Amazon was Amazin'. If your vintage recording has a "buckle" in it, this can cause the cartridge to smack into the shellac, or bounce around. This is quite impressive, but has one big negative - warped records. Because of this, it is recommended to have another cartridge to play problem records with.Overall, though, this is a fabulous product, and I am quite happy I picked it up. The Shure N78s is the replacement stylus for the M78s cartridge. The cartridge has a very good sound, especially if you like to archive your collection, either on tape or using the computer.The stylus has a recommended tracking force of 1.5 - 3 grams. I really wish Shure had made a stiffer cantilever that tracks heavier (perhaps 3 - 7 grams).
Needle performs as advertized. Shipping was fast and secure. I am completely satisfied with the order.
